Kayak routes (STEINE)

Steine is a paradise for kayakers. There are 17 marked kayak routes in the area between Abelvær and Arnøya. Additionally, there are several other kayak routes in the municipality.

Nærøysund municipality has the longest coastline in the country, making it ideal for kayaking along its many fjords and nearly 7000 islands, islets, and skerries.

Nærøysund municipality, in collaboration with UL Fallarstein and Explore Ytre Namdal, is responsible for marking the routes. Christian Haugerøy from Explore Ytre Namdal has played a central role in developing the kayak routes.

All 17 routes are in the Arnøyfjord area and are accessible from the cabin at Steine. These routes are now available on the UT.no website. You can also download the UT.no app to have the routes on your mobile device.

At the small boat harbor near the cabin, kayak launching facilities have also been provided. The 17 routes start from three different locations. Information boards with route maps are placed at the parking lots at Storjuvika, Grindvollen, and the small boat harbor at Abelvær. All starting points are along Fv 768 towards Abelvær, with signs indicating the turnoffs to Storjuvika and Grindvollen.

The routes are designed with varying levels of difficulty, including easy, moderate, and challenging routes. The length of the routes also varies.
